Making patterns to relieve the stress :)

Some patterns to start this crazy week! And I say crazy because If I am totally honest I am quite stressed thinking about all the things I have to do before May. Os dejo una serie de estampados nuevos para dar comienzo a esta semana de locura! Y digo de locura porque si soy sincera ando bastante estresada pensando en todo lo que tengo que dejar atado para este mes que entra. Por suerte esos pensamientos se desvanecen al menos el ratito que cojo los pinceles y me pongo manos a la obra!Podéis ver el resto pinchando aquí o contactarme aquí en caso de que estéis interesados.

little talks: our travel photography book

This week, watching the travel photography book that I gave to Martin, I felt like sharing it with you. It is a compilation of our favourite pics, that we both took during our trips.

I have always loved photography. I got my first camera in a school raffle when I was six years old. It was a basic one but I was so excited that I took pictures of everything and, after that, convinced my mum to develop the roll :P I confess I did a quite weird “interesting” job. Anyway I enjoyed the process a lot. Over the years, I made a great discovery: the book/magazine layout. I have fun fixing the texts, the images…playing with typography (for me the most difficult task so far). I love it, and I am happy when I see the final result (btw: I am so looking forward to showing you the latest work “poesías de Extremadura para niños” -> poems about Extremadura for kids!).

I learned about magazine layout during my MA but before that I did four (4!) of the amazing photography courses that Jackie Rueda offers at her online school: http://www.jackierueda.com. She is a great photographer and a lovely teacher who shares her knowledge in a beautiful and friendly way. Highly recommended if you like photography (and speak Spanish)!

Esta semana, mirando el pequeño libro de fotografía de viajes que regalé a Martin, me entraron ganas de compartirlo con vosotros. Es un libro que recoge algunas de las fotos que ambos hemos hecho durante nuestros viajes.

Siempre me ha gustado la fotografía. La primera cámara que tuve me tocó en un sorteo del colegio cuando tenía seis años. Era bastante básica, pero yo estaba tan emocionada que me dediqué a tirar fotos a todo y convencí a mi madre para que revelara el carrete :P Os confieso que hice unas fotos de lo más raras…”interesantes”. Eso si, disfruté del proceso. Lo que ha supuesto un descubrimiento para mí, ha sido la maquetación de libros y revistas. Me resulta muy entretenido ir colocando el texto, las imágenes y buscar armonía y coherencia en el trabajo. Lo más difícil (y divertido), sin duda, es jugar con la tipografía. Me encanta. Sobre todo cuando ves el resultado final.

Aunque aprendí maquetación durante el máster, antes de eso hice varios cursos de fotografía (algunos incluían conocimientos de maquetación) en la escuela online de Jackie Rueda: http://www.jackierueda.com. Además de ser una fotógrafa estupenda tiene una manera de enseñar que engancha! Muy recomendable si os gusta la fotografía!

My first memory ever. Pretty patterns 2

“Sin helados el mundo sería oscuridad y caos” :)

Yo, como buena amante de los helados, estoy totalmente de acuerdo con esta frase. Mi primer recuerdo de hecho, tiene que ver con ellos. Con tres años me llevaron a mi primera excursión a una fábrica de Frigo en la época en que Frigo hacía helados con forma de señales de tráfico (ya ha llovido, si). Como podrás imaginar, estaba en el paraíso.

No se me ocurre mejor manera de empezar esta semana que con estos deliciosos estampados y deseandoos que tengáis un lunes de los buenos! (que si, que también existen de esos :P) Si os gusta éste podéis encontrar toda la serie haciendo click aquí

:) As an ice cream lover I couldn’t agree with this quote more. In fact my first memory is related to them, when a 3 years old me went to her first excursion to an ice cream factory. As you can imagine I was in paradise ;)

A little ‘sorpresa’

Que si, que los que la conocemos, sabemos que Extremadura no cabe en un libro. Ni en dos, ni en tres, ni en mil. Pero se merece todos esos y muchos más. Y pronto la lista aumentará :)

La ilustración de hoy es un pequeño adelanto de una serie de ilustraciones que estoy terminando para hacer uno de los proyectos más bonitos y tiernos en los que me he involucrado hasta la fecha. Realmente, me siento un poco como la niña que veis en portada. Dibujando y dibujando sobre Extremadura con mucho corazón.

Se trata de un libro de poesías de Extremadura que saldrá prontísimo a la luz. Escrito por Natividad Carmona. Es un libro para niños. Bueno y para los que así se sientan aún. Es un libro para los que aman Extremadura. Un libro que habla de recuerdos, de emociones, de sentimientos, de colores y aromas reconocibles por todos los que hayan pasado por aquí en algún momento de sus vidas.

Alright, Extremadura does not fit just in one book, it does not even fit in a thousand of them. But everyone who knows it will agree with me that it deserves more attention.

The illustration you can see above belongs to a serie of illustrations that I am doing for one of the nicest and sweetest projects I have been involved so far. I feel like the little girl that you can see on the picture at the begining of the post. Drawing and drawing about Extremadura with all my heart.

So here we are, working in a poems book for kids about my beloved region. Written by Natividad Carmona, it is a book for Extremadura lovers. A book full of memories, feelings, emotions, colours and scents. All of them are recognizable by anyone who has spent here some time.

A pretty pattern and a good weekend

Quien me conoce sabe que me encantan las flores. Lo que sabe menos gente (hasta ahora) es que también me gusta hacer estampados. Esta semana que he estado enferma en casa decidí dejar un poco de lado el trabajo de ordenador y tableta y pasarme a la lámina y los pinceles (viva los viejos tiempos :)) !!)

No se me ocurrió mejor manera de estrenar mis nuevas acuarelas que llenando la lámina de pétalos. :) Realmente, los hice de muchos más colores, pero quise seleccionar mis favoritos para este estampado. Espero que os gusten!

Those who know me know that I love flowers. What fewer people know (so far) is that I really enjoy creating prints/patterns. This week I have been sick at home, so I decided to put aside my computer and graphic tablet and take the brushes and paper instead (good old times :)) !!)

As a result I filled the paper with petals using my new watercolours . I did them in different colours but I decided to choose my favourites for this pattern. Hope you like it!

Things that remind me of Czech Republic. Christmas wreaths

A veces echo de menos República Checa.

Hay muchos lugares a los que me encantaría teletransportarme y mucha gente con la que me encantaría compartir unas risas, un abrazo, una fiesta o una cerveza :) . Eso mismo me pasa cuando estoy allí y me acuerdo de España. Como ahora estamos por el sur aprovechamos el fin de semana largo que tuvimos por aquí para hacer coronas de navidad y adornar un poco la casa con estas bellezas :)) Espero que os gusten.

Sometimes I miss Czech Republic.

Sometimes, I would love to come back and visit again and again my favourite spots and share laughs, hugs, party and beers with many people who are still there :) . Sometimes the same thing happen to me when I am abroad and I start thinking about Spain. Because we are not in Prague now, we used the long weekend to make christmas wreaths and decorate the house with these beauties :)) I hope you like them.
